Life Extention for Nuclear Plant

In joining the European Union Lithuania signed the Treaty of Accession Protocol No. 4, according to which, our country commits itself to phase out the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP) by 2009. However, it was suddenly realized, that closing the nuclear plant means leaving Lithuania without a sufficient nuclear power supply for about 6 to 9 years (until a new power station can be built).

Vilnius - the most friendly city for bicycles

We should be happy to see that Vilnius is on the way on become the Europe’s friendliest city for bicyclists: the self government refused 3 million Euro for building new bicycle-tracks. We are also traffic so there is no need to be separated from cars traffic and drive in some narrow tracks. In purpose to make our trip safe, it was decided to ask us to wear special helmets and yellow light-reflecting vests.

Higher spirits in Lithuanian cinema

How much time is needed to review 80000 pictures? This visual pleasure lasts just 15 minutes. It is absolutely true, the creators of the first and only Lithuanian photo movie, assured. They presented the result of a unique audiovisual project - a short photo film - to the public. The script was born when the 24 year old director, Jūratė Samulionytė was watching people busying themselves with everyday things and become bleary eyed, monotonous and bitter. The title of this film, declares a break from the ordinary - NOROUTINE.

A wider way for bloggers

How do Lithuanian writers of internet diaries live? A few weeks ago they met at the second Lithuanian bloggers conference BLOGin 2008 in Vilnius. The communication about the event was planned effectively - the tickets, worth a sell-out play, were all bought. Approximately 400 participants attended. This professionally organized meeting of webloggers reflected the current situation in the Lithuanian blogosphere.
