The 9th of May is the day of victory in the Second World War for
Russia. For Lithuania, as well as for other Baltic countries, this date
means something totally different. That is the beginning of the
occupation. Occupation, which itself is a negative action, because the
nation loses its sovereignty, the opportunity to rule its country,
while it is taken by the government of other state.

From north east to south west 3870 kilometers separate two European cities Seville and Vilnius. Keeping in mind that both of them are still creating their European identity one can believe that such distance looses its meaning. We are saying that technologies, historical and demographical data enables us to give to the distance a new sense.05

In joining the European Union Lithuania signed the Treaty of Accession
Protocol No. 4, according to which, our country commits itself to phase
out the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP) by 2009. However, it was
suddenly realized, that closing the nuclear plant means leaving
Lithuania without a sufficient nuclear power supply for about 6 to 9
years (until a new power station can be built).01
